Biography
Nanxi Huang was born in 2000 in Wenzhou, China. She immigrated to New York as a teenager and continued her education in the United States. She is currently a Brooklyn-based artist. The artist began her academic career studying biological science before shifting towards fine art painting after a major realization she had. Nanxi paints without a plan. Her work is a dialogue with the unknown—an excavation of the subconscious through the physical act of pouring, scraping, and reacting to oil paint. Her role is to follow, to amplify what the material suggests, and allow her daily encounters—fragments of sound, light, or passing emotions—to seep into the work without dictating it. "I let my intuition guide me, allowing the materiality of paint to shape each piece organically. It’s about trust—trusting the forms I discovered and the worlds I created. These themes aren’t chosen; they emerge because, in this stage of my life, they’re what my mind returns to. "
